Matt and Kelly Austin left law and fashion in California for five acres on Walla Walla's Southside, building Grosgrain around underdog grapes, minimal-intervention winemaking, and sustainable farming. Petit Grosgrain is their Southern Rhône-style red, Grenache- and Syrah-led, shifting with each vintage. The 2022's long, cool-then-warm season produced maybe their best yet: deep ruby, fresh blackberry, plum, olive, and garrigue. Soft and pliant, gently tannic, with violet lift. Restrained and savory, made to drink — not to overly impress.
