Bojan Kobal's skin-contact white from Haloze, the steep marl hills of Slovenian Štajerska near the Austrian border. Welschriesling, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, each wild-fermented separately, then 46 days on the skins and two years on lees in neutral barrique. Unfined, unfiltered. Cloudy amber; orange peel, baking spice, candied peach, a waxy honey note. Dry, gently tannic, saline. Slovenes don't call it orange — just white wine, made the long way.
