Rodica's Refošk comes from a certified-organic family estate in Slovenian Istria, perched above the Gulf of Trieste, where Marinko Rodica revived vines on hillsides abandoned for fifty years. It's 100% Refošk (the Slovenian name for Refosco) grown on poor limestone soils at altitude, spontaneously fermented and matured on its lees — no synthetic chemicals, no irrigation, farmed with grass between the rows. Expect a medium-bodied, savory red: brambly dark fruit, cracked pepper, hay and forest floor, all carried on Refosco's signature bright acidity and velvety tannin. A pure, mineral expression of Istria that shines with fatty, spiced food.
